Meals:
Meals are included in the cost of registration for Housing Students. Lunch and select dinners are included in the cost of registration for Commuting Students. More Details can be found in the 2012 Summer Studio Student Handbook.

- CULINARY ARTS/BAKING & PASTRY
Get in the kitchen and see if you’ve got what it takes. This workshop will introduce you to basic knife skills, ingredient selection, and regional cooking styles. You’ll learn to execute several dishes and develop your own personal interpretation of some classics. Gain an understanding of just how much goes into the crafting of sumptuous breads, pastries, and cakes. You’ll leave this workshop with techniques and recipes to keep your inner-chef occupied for some time to come.
- DIGITAL FILMMAKING & VIDEO PRODUCTION
Discover the world of digital video production through the lens of actual filmmakers. Our faculty will guide you through pre-production planning, execution, and the post process of editing, special effects, and mastering. You’ll leave this fast-paced workshop with an understanding of how ideas transform into the films you know and love.
- FASHION MARKETING
This workshop will introduce you to the fundamentals of creating and maintaining effective consumer environments. Supply chain management, human resources, display presentation, and effective pricing models will all be covered in this introduction to the high-pressure, challenging world of retail management.
- GAME ARTS
- GRAPHIC DESIGN & WEB DESIGN
Bring your talents, drive, and inspiration and see how it fits in the multi-billion-dollar world of gaming. Working with the same tools the pros use, try your hand at rendering 3D environments and the characters that will inhabit them. This workshop will leave you with a taste of the possibility of a world just waiting for you to create it.
The graphic design portion of this workshop will deal with Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Acrobat software applications. The workshop will concentrate on how to use these software applications as design tools. The web design portion is designed to give you an understanding of just how unique designing interactive web experiences can be. You’ll be introduced to the same tools the pros use while combining an aesthetic eye with the ever-expanding power of the web. These workshops are designed to provide you with a greater knowledge of how your ideas can come to life and what it takes to bring them there.
- INTERIOR DESIGN
Interior Design is all about enriching the lives of others by creating environments where form and function merge. This workshop will teach you the elements of design, including color and space planning, with a special emphasis on furniture, materials, and textiles.
- PHOTOGRAPHY
In this workshop, students will have the opportunity to work with cameras and software to photograph and edit images. They will also participate in location and studio shoots.
All workshops are non-credit bearing and do not transfer into any program offered at The Art Institutes International — Kansas City.
