TUITION: $450 (includes $50 deposit, supplies, and lunch each day.)

TUITION WITH HOUSING: $650 (includes $50 deposit, supplies, meals, evening activities, and transportation.)


Tuition must be received by Monday, June 13, 2011.
Transportation to and from the airport is not included.
Housing costs are for a check-in date of Sunday, June 19, 2011. The check-out date is Thursday, June 23, 2011.

Students attending Summer Studio who require
housing will be staying at a supervised local hotel.
Transportation between the hotel and all activities will be provided. Check-in for housing students is Sunday, June 19, 2011 between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM at the hotel.

Our four-day workshops are designed to challenge your creativity in a hands-on, collaborative environment. You’ll work alongside students just like you, use professional-grade technology, and learn from experienced creative professionals.

Meals:

Lunch is provided for non-housing students each day. Meals are provided for housing students.

Supplies are included in the cost of registration for all students.

2011 Summer Studio Workshops

ADVERTISING
Create an ad campaign! Work as a team and sell your ideas to the "client" while learning the skills a successful advertising executive needs to compete in today's market.

GRAPHIC DESIGN
Brush up on old skills and build new ones with an intensive three-day immersion in Graphic Design. This workshop will deal with Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Acrobat software applications. The class will concentrate on how to use these software applications as design tools.

INTERIOR DESIGN
Interior Design is all about enriching the lives of others by creating environments where form and function merge. This workshop will teach you the elements of design, including color and space planning, with a special emphasis on furniture, materials, and textiles.

AUDIO PRODUCTION
Does sound speak to you? When your friends hear, do you feel? Even if you can’t explain it, explore your connection to sound this summer in our Audio Production workshop. You’ll be introduced to the fundamentals of audio production using many of the same tools the pros use. And when you’re done, you have a solid foundation in the awesome science of sound.

DIGITAL FILMMAKING & VIDEO PRODUCTION
Discover the world of digital video production through the lens of actual filmmakers. Our faculty will guide you through pre-production planning, execution, and the post process of editing, special effects, and mastering. You’ll leave this fast-paced workshop with an understanding of how ideas transform into the films you know and love.

MEDIA ARTS & ANIMATION
The Summer Studio workshop in Media Arts & Animation provides students with an important foundation in drawing skills, color theory, design concepts, audio/video techniques, and basic computer applications. From this foundation, students will develop skills in various aspects of computer graphics and animation.

PHOTOGRAPHY
In this workshop, students will have the opportunity to work with cameras and software to photograph and edit images. They will also participate in location and studio shoots.

WEB DESIGN & INTERACTIVE MEDIA
This workshop is designed to give you an understanding of just how unique designing interactive web experiences can be. You’ll be introduced to the same tools the pros use while combining an aesthetic eye with the ever-expanding power of the web. This workshop is designed to provide you with a greater knowledge of how your ideas can come to life and what it takes to bring them there.

FASHION & RETAIL MANAGEMENT
Learn more about exciting career opportunities in fashion! Explore fashion illustration, fashion photography, visual merchandising, textile art, and retailing in small boutiques as well as high-end fashion stores.

CULINARY ARTS
Get in the kitchen and see if you’ve got what it takes. This workshop will introduce you to basic knife skills, ingredient selection, and regional cooking styles. You’ll learn to execute several dishes and develop your own personal interpretation of some classics. Best of all, you’ll meet like-minded peers and see if the kitchen might be in your future.

All workshops are non-credit bearing and do not transfer into any program offered at The Art Institute of Tennessee — Nashville.
